 * I finally found something which may explain why the discs are not working on the PS3. Supposedly the firmware only supports Model 1.2 BD-R discs because they have the LTH feature, for those who don't know LTH stands for Low to High. The Model 1.2 discs have an organic material in them which makes it easier to read data. The discs that I purchased from http://www.accaproducts.com/info.html were Verbatim 25GB Model 1.1 so that would explain the incompatibility.
