                      HOW I HANDLED DISQUALIFIED ENTRIES

most people have sent me a lot of updates of their entries. at first their
entries worked, but at some stage there often was a hidden mistake in it, a
small flaw that didn't fit the rules. i didn't always notice these mistakes at
first. so i accepted the entries. short before the deadline or after the
compo, with help of the public or the jury, i finally found the mistake and
had to disqualify the entry. that, however, isn't really fair to those guys.
they've put loads of effort in their entries, and then unfortunately some tiny
bug is found in the final version of their entries. a good example of this is
tryx, because his entries were really bug-free except the very last one. in
these cases i decided to disqualify the final entries of these guys but to
accept the best previous version that entirely fits to the rules. in some
cases this previous version is an early one, e.g. rodex and mirekcz, with whom
only the very first entry is really okay. so don't get a wrong impression of
those coders' skills - they really put much effort into the compo and got down
their entries' size alot, but these later versions were buggy and therefore
the first version, which is pretty shitty of course, had to be taken. as i
already mentioned, there are also some guys whose entries were always correct
except the last one, e.g. tryx. and finally there are also some guys who never
sent me a fine entry, namely hornet, claw and hiteck. their last entries, of
course, had to be disqualified without substituting with a former entry.
